I’m babysitting a macaw. We just got her today and we’ll have her for a week while her parents are in Hawaii. She’s a blue and gold and just about the sweetest thing however she did draw husband’s blood when he was holding her but I think that was because her daddy forced husband to hold her right after she showed up. I don’t think she was really all that cool with being at our house at that moment though she knows me and by tonight she was on my shoulder making purring noises and preening my hair. I’ll have to get one of the kids to take my picture with her some this week. It is like having a two year old. Eeeegggaaddss. Our house isn’t big bird proof – she’s quite adept at getting off her cage so when she is out of it, she has to be watched very carefully. One time she got off her cage and ran over to husband and attacked his shoes. I’ve got a mess in her corner already because when she eats, she throws her food. And when I covered her cage for her to go to bed, she tried to pull the sheet off and got way on the bottom of her cage to look out at me. Stinker.
