Not a creature was stirring…..oops, we done with that season. It is 8:30 a.m. on New Years Day and I’m the only one up. Because we here at my house know how to celebrate (ha), we were all up past midnight. That works well for the Night Owls in the family (the other three) but since I’ve apparently switched sides and am now playing for the Early Birds, I just get to be tired all day. But I do get to have a peaceful morning reading journals and answering emails. It’s just me and the bird (and try keeping a bird quiet for those sleeping Night Owls) and a little bit of sunshine (thank god).
I’m not big into New Years Eve so we planned for it to be a quiet evening at home. I even planned on going to bed before midnight (see Early Bird above) but the prince needed a bit of motherly love so we had to chat. He was smiling at midnight so all was well. The princess, who swore all day she’d be up, was fast asleep in her dad’s lap come the big hour. We did wake her to say Happy 2005 and then put her back in bed. See, it just doesn’t get much more exciting than this which is fine because I’m not much of a big NYE celebrator.
I was a bit mopey last night myself. I think I’ve been a bit mopey all 2004….that’s what turning 40 can do to one. But really, I been thinking of all the ‘could have beens’ and we all know that does no good. But then I just read a journal where the writer looks at the new year like a fresh slate …. an entire 12 fresh months to play with. Very cool. So my first and only resolution of the moment is to resolve to plan what I’m going to do with my gift of 12 months.
I’ll let you know
