He’s gone. For 8 days. The longest time he’s been away yet.

Harmony College. Where men and boys converge on St. Joseph, MO for 8 days of male bonding and barbershop singing.

Wow!

They’ve (the prince, 4 friends and one of friend’s dad and uncle) left San Jose, had a small layover in Las Vegas and now are on the final stretch to Kansas City. Once he’s landed I’ll be fine but the mother in me can’t help but worry when he’s in an airplane without me. Silly yes, but I swore when he was born he wasn’t EVER going in a plane without me even if I had to fly with him on business trips as an adult. Yeah, I knew I couldn’t stick by that one but I didn’t expect it to be when he was 12.

But I digress.

The kid was so darned sweet before he left. He was excited beyond belief and kept saying how he just knew this was going to be the best experience of his life. And from what I can gather from talking to grown men who’ve gone, it may just be. It will certainly be a highlight and probably the best thing that has happened to him in his 12 years.

I’m excited for him. He’s a lucky boy.
