Seems I hardly get around to writing much these days. I’m still around reading my favorites and such but just do diaryland entries in my head most days.

Since I last wrote:

I took the prince to the funeral for J. It was tremendously sad but happy too. We were all reminded that every single day of that little girl’s life was a day she wasn’t supposed to be around and even she knew that and lived her life accordingly. Many classmates got up and spoke at the service reciting poems they wrote or sharing memories of her. It was beautiful.

The prince turned 12. Amazing. 12. In all his adolescence glory, the prince is now 12. I of course now dress wrong, speak wrong, laugh wrong, am mean and basically can’t do anything right. Except at night when I’m needed for cuddling. Then he’s my baby and I’m all right. What a roller coaster of emotions (both his and mine!).

I did the catalog for the school’s annual auction fund raising event. Will I ever learn? I did this as a favor for a friend but it took a huge amount of time that I really didn’t have. The upside…I learned many things about how to set up a large document MS Word. The downside…I learned many things about how to set up a large document in MS Word that I will probably NEVER use again.

I have two playdates organized for the princess over the next several weeks. This is a huge accomplishment for me…I really don’t excel at organizing playdates. I also have one week busy for her in the summer and have started blocking out other summer arrangements. Go me.

I had the orange tree pruned. Anyone want a bag or three of oranges? We prune it every other year and the year it needs it, it really needs it. If I’d been thinking, I’d have taken before and after pictures…that tree was seriously going to take over the back yard. But alas, now it is all trimmed and cutesy. Course it wasn’t fun hauling the cut parts to the street…orange trees are mean and bloodthirsty and I have the scars to prove it..

The prince’s birthday party is tonight. It is a small affair; we are taking him and two friends to a comedy show and out for pizza. He just came in to make sure I’ll have the house clean. See paragraph 4 above. I told him if it really bothered him that he can certainly clean up himself. He said he was really concerned about the dishes…and I assured him that he could take care of that also. Bother.

In his defense though, many of his friends (and one of the boys coming to night) live in huge showplaces. We don’t live in huge and we don’t live in showplace. And he’s being particularly sensitive about it right now. I’m sure it is probably because of paragraph 4 above.

Well, I best be off…you know, dishes to do and all.
