My my. Well, I tried to help out. Surely that counts for something. My neighbor showed up on my doorstep several hours ago. Seems she found a stray and was going to post posters to try to find the owner but she couldn’t keep the dog and would I? Just for a day or so. And then if no one showed up, she’d take him to the shelter.
Oh sure. I mean, really, what could I say? Her kids were all please, please please.
After I picked up my kids from school we went and got the dog. It sniffed its way through my house and then started barking. And didn’t stop. Oh sure, it would stop when we petted it but if we weren’t touching it, it barked. Then it pooped and peed in the house and when we tried to let it out to go potty, it ran straight to my neighbor’s house. The princess and I brought the dog back and I was going a bit nuts. My neighbor was going to pick up the dog around 5 to take it to the vets to see if it had one of those chips in it and that is when I was going to tell her I couldn’t keep the darned thing.
As luck would have it, the dog got out again, ran straight to my neighbors and this time she was out. The kids let her know what a nuisance it had been and I, as graciously as possible, told her I just couldn’t keep it.
But I figure I got good universe karma out of the deal. Of course, I went and blew that because I complained to my husband about how that episode messed up my entire afternoon (well, from about 2:45 until 5ish) so I’m sure in the karma points, it was a wash after all. And it was very stupid of me to waste my breath complaining to someone who just doesn’t get it. I mean of course it sounds dumb that something like this can throw me so out of wack it continues to mess up my evening even when it is all over but it does. I seem to have a very narrow line of what I can handle and sometimes the seemingly smallest things just throw me off. I hate that. So I can’t blame my husband for not getting it but, sheesh, there has got to be a better way for him to respond that didn’t leave me feeling like I wanted to punch him.
Oh well.
It has been a busy week and I’ve got everything so scheduled out right now. That is the only way I can manage it but it doesn’t allow for extras. Even saving dogs, however rotten they are.
Well, off to pick up the prince from rehearsal. This is the part I hate about him doing these plays…the night time pick ups. Princess is tired and weepy and has to stay up late to go get her brother.
How’s that for cheer.
