My laptop showed back up today. I was a bit surprised. I really half expected not to ever see it again and then to see it back in 6 days over a holiday weekend, well that just made me think all warm and gushy thoughts about HP’s customer service. So maybe they wouldn’t get my nasty letter complaining about the call center in India after all.
I hurriedly opened the box only to find a letter thanking me for using them but they couldn’t replicate the problem so they had done nothing. What??!!! This wasn’t an intermittent problem!!!! My speakers hadn’t worked for a month!!!! Idoits!!! Didn’t they get that when I explained the problem!!! I was screaming at the letter (obviously all warm and gushy thoughts had vanished at this point…I was rewriting my initial complaint…only worse). I was already even feeling sorry for the customer service rep who was going to have to deal with me.
I decided to turn the computer on before I made my phone call. And lucky for me I did (or rather lucky for the customer service people). When the computer booted up, there was my little musical greeting. I played some songs. I had music. Wow!
So it looks like they either did something or this was a kick the tires sort of a problem. If I’d been smart enough I should have just picked up the laptop and shook it around a bit to simulate shipping and I wouldn’t have had to wait 6 days to see it again.
But it works. So I’m happy. And I’ve decided on a neutral position on HP’s customer service in case any one cares.
