Jeeze, last week was one pain in the ass week.

First I had the customer service trauma on Monday. Then on Tuesday I was scheduled to give a deposition in San Francisco. This is the same deposition I may have mentioned being all stressed about last summer…the one where I was scheduled twice and both times I had to move mountains to get the kids taken care of and both times it was cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

So on Tuesday, after reminding the kids about 30 times to lock the door when their ride showed up, I headed out. While backing out of the driveway, the car felt sluggish so I got out and checked the tires…naturally one was flat. I wanted to scream and cry. I’d been up since 4:30 a.m., was feeling extremely nervous and had been rushing to get out the door in time. So after going back in the house, getting the person who was scheduled for the afternoon deposition on the phone to get him to SF in my place and calling the attorney to let him know I wouldn’t be there and now getting the kids out the door, I cried. I mean, really, there was nothing else I could have done at that moment.

I pulled myself together and got online to the AAA site, signed up for a membership (I’d been meaning to for quite some time now that I don’t have a husband near by), printed out my temp card and called to get service and 30 minutes later a very nice person showed up to change my tire. As luck would have it, I’ve got one of those teeny spares and couldn’t drive all the way to SF so I found a gas station to repair the tire thinking that is all it needed. Well, after an hour and a half he finally gets to it and after he plugged the hole and blew up the tire, it bulged on the side so I needed a new one. So I bagged the entire trip to SF (up until then I thought I could still make it) and headed to Costco for a new tire. Spent 3 hours and tons of money while waiting for my tire to be replaced (now that was a fantastic marketing idea).

The bright spot? That after telling me that the warranty was void because the gas station guy plugged the whole, they only charged me $40 for the tire instead of the over $100 that a new one actually costs.

Wednesday was relatively trauma free however, I did have to ship my laptop off. After the tech support person said I would have to obtain a box and packing materials and box it up myself, and after I bought said stuff, a laptop mailer showed up at my door. Grrrr. Not that it was a huge deal but really. You’d think they’d be able to tell you actually how it was going to work.

On Thursday I decided NOT to leave the turkey baking in the oven and go to the movies. I figured that the way my week was going I’d come home to a burned down house. Friday was uneventful as was Saturday.

And then there was today. I was scheduled to meet a friend to load up the back of my minivan with presents that had to be delivered to a hotel tomorrow to set up for this week long fundraising event I’m involved with. I walk out to the car and notice my tire is flat. This is the SAME tire that had a nail in it on Tuesday. So I slowly back out while husband looks at tire and sure enough, there is a screw lodged in the tire. The SAME tire. The NEW tire. I was too dumbfounded to even cry this time. I called friend, emptied husbands car, met friend, got knocked over by dog, landed right on my knees which still hurt and returned home while husband found out that Costco’s tire department was open. He took it in for me this afternoon, which was extremely nice of him (though I know he just wanted a break from cleaning the garage).

I’ve got an extremely busy week planned. Things happen in threes. So, shall we take bets on which day my tire is going to be flat?
